I am so glad that it seems like warm weather is here to stay, and earlier this week, Steph, Dan, and I made the most of enjoying it! This was the first time we had met officially (we had only met through Skype before!), and we had a blast together. Steph and Dan both live just outside of and work in Washington DC, so it was great to be able to meet while they were up in a whirlwind of planning before their White Cliffs Country Club wedding this summer! We met at Steph’s mom’s absolutely adorable and beautiful beach house where Steph will be getting ready on their wedding day, and after having a bite to eat overlooking the water, we headed to the Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary for some sunset portraits. We spent most of our time laughing, wandering through the fields and trees, and Dan even broke out in a fit of laughing so hard that he cried because of “the face” that Steph can make that gets him. Every. Single. Time. Photographing Steph and Dan came so easily, because it’s completely clear that not only are these two in love, but they so effortlessly and genuinely just enjoy being around each other more than anything else.
Yeah, it’s not like they were enjoying themselves or anything. Hooray for being spontaneously ridiculous in a field!
I absolutely love the few minutes of light after sunset. There is nothing better than this natural, romantic, soft light, except maybe photographing wonderful people in that light. It was an amazing sunset, and just as the sun disappeared below the horizon, half of the sky turned what Steph’s grandfather would call “sky blue pink”, while the clouds that followed the sun lit up like a warm campfire. It was pretty awesome.
Steph & Dan, I can’t wait to see you again this summer!
