At the end of August, I photographed Kate & Mike’s wedding – from the moment I met them, I knew we would get along beautifully, and I was right. When they first left my cozy little office, I looked at Josh and said, so, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be photographing our own wedding next year. Not only did Kate & Mike share my love for Excel, but Mike and Josh are two peas in a pod, and speak in Seinfeld quotes. We had way too much fun at their engagement session, to the point where I had to say, ok guys, we have to take some photos too! On top of all of that, their wedding day, with the exception of the church itself almost perfectly mirrored my own, with stops at the John Carver Inn, Brewster Gardens (make sure to get your permit if you want to shoot there!), and a super fun reception at Pinehills Golf Club.
Joined by my awesome colleague Kristen Jordan and trusty assistant and husband Josh, we started our day with the boys (it’s always a smart idea to have everyone getting ready close by to each other, to give you a little bit more leeway on your big day). We arrived just as Mike was opening a gift from Kate. He apologized to us afterwards for his tears, but I put the kibosh on that quickly. It was one of the most touching quiet moments I’ve seen a groom have on his wedding day.
After leaving the boys to head off to the church with Kristin, I rejoined the ladies and started with Kate’s details.
Kate you looked ravishing. Your mom’s veil added the perfect touch to your amazingly elegant gown.
Kate had the most beautiful handkerchief made for her dad.
With everyone ready to go, we were off to St. Peter’s church in Plymouth harbor for their ceremony.
I loved this ceremony – nobody held back their emotion, and everywhere I looked was someone smiling ear to ear, giggling, or shedding a tear or two. It’s so wonderful to see everyone just completely happy.
Mike looked right at Kate and said “Holy crap, we’re really married!” These two have the best faces.
After a quick trip in the Rolls Royce that her dad surprised her with, we took some casual portraits in Brewster Gardens in Plymouth Harbor.
Then it was off to Pinehills to start a very important celebration!
