What can I say about Christina & Stephen’s classic black tie wedding? Start with a day that is filled with complete romance, add a couple that is so sweet with each other, all topped off with two of the most wonderful families that treated us like one of their own, and you’ve got a recipe for a perfect day. All set at the beautiful New Haven Lawn Club, my team and I arrived knowing we were in for a treat, but we had no idea of how much this wonderful venue would transform throughout the day. I started a beautiful autumn day off with Christina and her ladies as they were finishing their hair and makeup, and patiently awaiting Stephen and the groomsmen’s arrival. We had the run of the Lawn Club, and after seeing Christina’s stunning gown and such a beautiful setting, we felt like we were working with royalty!
On the other side of town, my colleague Jessica spent some time with Stephen and some very dapper gentlemen.
Christina burst into a fit of giggles as she was buttoned into her dress. I love when my brides can’t help but be this happy!
Just outside, Christina’s dad prepared to see his daughter in her gown for the first time.
With everyone at the Lawn Club, it was time for Christina & Stephen to have their first look. We stole them away to the courtyard so they could have their time together before everyone joined us. I always make sure to keep a first look just for you. It’s the only time all day that you’ll have to be alone with each other all day, and it’s so nice to be able to have a few minutes to be together as your nerves melt to excitement.
Only after Christina & Stephen had signaled that they were ready, we moved on for some portraits of the two of them. The New Haven Lawn Club has some wonderful architecture to play with, and with the sun peeking in and out of the clouds, it was like we were in every possible location we could want!
Time for some relaxed family portraits and some time with the bridal party before all of the guests arrived!
Clearly, we have zero fun during formals. When your maid of honor dress has a train, of course, you have to race your sister to see how fast you can run to get it to float behind you!
With a few minutes to spare, we snuck down the street to take advantage of the beautiful foliage.
Naturally, the only way to pass the time while your guests are being seated is to play Bananagrams.
With a ceremony starting just after sunset, the ballroom transformed into the most romantic candlelit space as the ceremony began.
As guests enjoyed cocktail hour, the team at New Haven Lawn Club transformed the ceremony space into a vineyard inspired reception room, perfect for a fall celebration.
This group of family and friends brought their dancing A-game, with a little help from the Boston Common Band.
Christina and Stephen, I cannot thank you enough for having me join you to document your wedding – I hope you remember how wonderful it was for you for many many years to come!
