Kara & Brian: Married! | Scituate Harbor Yacht Club Wedding

With all of this rainy weather, it’s about time we brightened things up with how I kicked off my 2015 season with an absolute stunner of a couple.  You probably remember Kara & Brian from their wintery engagement session, and since then, I’ve been so pumped for their Scituate Harbor Yacht Club wedding.  Not only because I’ve known Kara since I was 15, or because she had told me about her out of this world, non traditional dress, but also because it officially marked the start of the 2015 season, with Josh and I officially shooting as a team!  We both arrived to the home where Kara and her beautiful bridesmaids were getting ready, and were greeted with such warm faces as if we were family.

We knew that Kara had chosen something different from a traditional white wedding gown, and were looking forward to seeing what she had in store.  We could not have anticipated just how show stopping this Rene Ruiz number would be.  Paired with these shimmery heels, emerald earrings, and a vintage brooch in her hair, Kara looked like she walked right out of an old Hollywood film.

Even with all of this glamour, these girls kept it down to earth, and were quite possibly the most laid back group, telling lots of stories, and just enjoying the afternoon, along with the only man of the house, Fitzy, Kara & Brian’s absolutely adorable Corgi pup!

As Kara put on her finishing touches,  Josh popped over to grab a few portraits of Brian before he headed to the yacht club to see his beautiful bride.

Look out Grace Kelly.  It’s no wonder everyone burst into tears when they saw Kara!

Kara’s mom could not have been happier for her daughter.

Because Kara trusted me with some extra portrait time before we needed to head out for her and Brian’s first look.  When you leave extra padding in your timeline, you’re able to have some classic portraits that give you a little bit of time to relax before the day kicks off.  Not only does it make for great images, but it’s a perfect time to press your reset button, and take a few minutes just for yourself to breathe.

Of course, there’s always time for a bride and her dog.

Both Kara & Brian are a little bit quiet with sharing their emotions, but when it came time for their first look, they absolutely wore their hearts on their sleeves, and it was wonderful.

After some time with just the happy couple, we were able to have the bridal party and Kara & Brian’s families join us for some relaxed portraits, which allowed everyone to enjoy the rest of the day without having to have Josh or I pull them away.

It really is a shame that these girls have no fun together ;)

With all of our portraits done and out of the way, it was time for a beautiful ceremony, and an adorable flower girl who took her job VERY seriously.

If you’re on the fence about whether or not a first look takes away from the first time your groom will see you, please take a look at Brian’s face.  He could not hold back his tears of complete joy as Kara approached him at the end of the aisle.

After a relaxing time mingling with guests during cocktail hour, the happy newlyweds took center stage for their first dance, and our flowergirl Juliet immediately opened up the party!

Before we left for the evening, we had to make a few dramatic portraits that only a cloudy sunset could offer us.  It was perfect for the over the top Hollywood glamour of Kara’s gown!

Kara & Brian, thank you so much for having us document your day!  We loved spending it with you, and can’t wait to see what is in store for you guys!
