Laura & James: Engaged! | A Barn at Gibbet Hill Engagement Session

Boy, have I been behind on keeping all of you up to date on what has turned out to be the busiest fall season yet!  The good news for you, is that the blog is going to be updated with a whole lot more beautiful couples and stories over the next few weeks.  Since we’re off to shoot an engagement session this afternoon on a gloriously warm fall day, I figured the best way to start off is kicking it back into gear with Laura and James’ engagement shoot at the Barn at Gibbet Hill.  I was so excited to finally meet these two in person, and even more excited when we found out that Laura went to high school with some of Josh’s family!  It really is such a small world.

After some snuggly poses, James laughed when I said, ok, let’s shake off the girly, and just hang out like dudes for a bit.

Can we just talk about how perfectly these two fit into this perfect ranch setting?

That sky though.  I’m going to miss days like these as winter approaches!

Lorena & Thiago: Engaged! | A Rockport Engagement Session

One week from today these two sweethearts are tying the knot!  Lorena & Thiago are so absolutely sweet together, and we could not have enjoyed our time with them in Rockport more.  From the beautiful sunset, to Lorena’s infectious smile (and her incredibly amazing hair!), to Thiago’s quiet way he looked at Lorena, there really wasn’t more you could ask for.  We’re beyond thrilled that we’ll get to spend more time with them soon!  Lorena may have taken a bit to warm up to the idea of dating Thiago when they first worked together over a decade ago, but these two opposites definitely do attract!

Symantha & Marcus: Engaged! | A Good Harbor Beach Engagement Session

When we’re scheduling engagement sessions with our couples, we always explain how we roll with the punches on wedding days, but given the choice of weather, we’re always going to plan for the ideal light for their engagement session.  With crazy amounts of thunderstorms passing through our area over the past few weeks, Symantha and Marcus were so patient as we rescheduled due to storms more than once.  Finally, we had a perfect weather day, and we made the trek out to Good Harbor Beach for their engagement session.  As we drove, we saw the perfect mixture of sun and clouds and were fist pumping to how awesome the light was going to be.  As we turned to the coast, about a mile from the beach, a dense fog rolled in, and I may or may not have yelled out loud at mother nature in the car. I remember thinking, “REALLY?  WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?” as we pulled into the parking lot, unable to see more than 50 feet ahead of us.  By the end of the session, I was thinking, “All fog, all the time!”  We had so much fun with how good spirited Symantha & Marcus are, and had a blast both in and out of the water for their session, and can’t wait until their Bradley Estate wedding next month!

A benefit of having a crazy weather pattern?  Having the whole beach to yourself.

See those cliffs that are barely there in the background?  There’s a mansion on them.  I love how dreamy the shapes of the cliffs are here!

After a quick outfit change and a few quiet portraits, we pulled out our own sun, and laughed at Mother Nature for trying to take away our sunset.

Symantha and Marcus, thank you so much for being such awesome sports, and absolutely nailing being awesome!  This was one of our favorite beach sessions ever, so be on notice that we’re expecting your wedding to be just as amazing! ;)

Allison & Keith: Engaged! | A Quintessential Boston Engagement Session

Nothing makes us happier than photographing the friends and family of our past couples (other than maybe photographing our couples again and again, but this allows us to do just that!).  Allison found us through Heather and MacLean (check out their wedding for our only non Jewish wedding to date that had a Horah!) – Allison’s brother is married to Heather’s sister, and we’re so happy to be reunited with this amazing family again, along with adding Keith and his family into the mix!  These two totally get each other, and did not stop laughing the entire time (particularly at how much we joked that Keith seemed to love making out with Allison in public!).  Their absolutely adorable pup, Kip, joined us for the first half of the session, and we walked from their apartment over to Paul Revere Park,  where they spend their limited family time together.  They both have an insane work ethic (Allison is a resident at Mass General and Keith works in technology and is getting a second degree at Harvard), so needless to say, any time they spend together is pretty awesome.

Apparently with these guys, the “family hug” is a thing.  Kip got a little overzealous with his PDA.

There goes the Kipster again – making sure he’s not left out!

All joking aside, how awesome are these two?

After taking Kip home to relax for the evening, we headed to the Esplanade where Keith popped the question.  The sun drenched the charles river shores with crazy beautiful light, and we took full advantage (along with taking a quick break to wait for the sun to go down a little more and check on Kip via puppycam!).

Alisha & Joel: Engaged! | A Good Harbor Beach Engagement Session

So you’re back to work after Memorial Day weekend, probably lamenting how long a 4 day week always feels, and hoping that your 11am second coffee break can slowly just bleed into lunch.  Your boss won’t notice, right?  Enjoy your caffeine that’s making it through your Monday version of Tuesday, and head on back to the beach with Alisha & Joel’s engagement session!

Joel and Alisha met while both of them played ultimate frisbee at MIT.  The two of them both have an amazing sense of humor, an awesome pup named Ginny, and are proud geeks (cheers to geeks being cool!).  Their love may have started to blossom at some point shortly after Alisha (rightfully) claimed she could karate kick empty cups off of Joel’s head.  Although we haven’t personally witnessed it, it’s no doubt amazing.  Per usual, we spent lots of time laughing during the session, and exploring one of Gloucester’s most amazing beaches together! We can’t wait for their Lincoln Pierce House wedding this September!
