Jennifer & Jerry: Engaged! | A Boston Seaport Engagement Session

It makes us so happy when our couples choose locations that mean something to them for their engagement session.  A few weeks back, we met with Jen and Jerry for their engagement session, and they chose to start at their own home with their adorable fur baby Zeuss (which is the most adorable name for a little tiny peanut), and head to the Seaport District where they like to spend their weekends with friends.  I absolutely love how Jerry is always making Jen laugh.  She openly admits that after just one date with Jerry, she knew he was the one, and shared that information with her grandmother the very next day.  Both of them absolutely love doing things to surprise each other with a little dose of happiness, so when the time came for Jerry to pop the question, he surprised Jen on a random evening after work.  What he didn’t know was that she also had a surprise birthday party planned for him the very same night.  We had a blast exploring Fort Point and the Seaport with them.

Tracy & Ashley: Engaged! | A Rye, NH Engagement Session

We always grow close to all of our couples, however Tracy and Ashley already hold a special place for us.  I think that this is probably the funniest way we have “met” one of our couples!  Over the summer, Tracy emailed us about photographing her wedding, when a friend of Jason & Patrick had mentioned my name to them when they were on vacation in Maine. They had mentioned they would be visiting us from Dedham, which made me smile because we had called Dedham home for over 8 years, and were missing the neighborhood since we had just moved out about a month before.  Imagine our surprise when Tracy and Ashley arrived to our office with all of us immediately breaking out in complete laughter realizing we had been next door neighbors for years and hadn’t made the connection over email!  We had always had opposite schedules, and it seemed the only time we were all at home at the same time was when we were shoveling snow at night all bundled up.  We spent hours sitting on our couch chatting and laughing about how much fun we could have had (and trouble we probably could have caused) if we had only known!  A little while back, we made our schedules work, and got together for their engagement session, up near where Tracy & Ashley had spent their college years in Rye NH.  There was certainly more laughter to be had, but it was undeniable that these two lovely women are so ridiculously happy together.

Before we left, we had seen a marsh just down the road, and it was low tide, so naturally we had to stop by there for a few more portraits.

Natrually, if you’re in a beautiful place, you’re inspired to try (maybe sometimes unsuccessfully) a Dirty Dancing lift.

Diana & Alan: Engaged! | An Esplanade Engagement Session

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting up with Diana & Alan for their engagement session.  This delightful duo joined us on a beautifully cool evening along the Esplanade.    Diana & Alan just get it.  From the way Diana’s face completely lights up when she looks at Alan, to the way that Alan hugs Diana so tightly, there’s no doubt that they work perfectly together.  It was a wonderful afternoon fading into a gorgeous evening, and we were so happy to be able to photograph two people with such open hearts.

We had a little visitor join us for part of our session!  His mom wasn’t far behind, but he was so curious that he followed us down the river for a bit!

After our session, we headed over to Park Plaza to have what turned out to be a delicious dinner from MJ O’Connors, but I couldn’t help but stop one more time for one last image, and I’m glad we did!  Diana & Alan, we are so, so excited for your wedding this October, we’ll have a blast!

Sara & Jeff: Engaged! | A Sachem Rock Farm Engagement Session

It’s so wonderful that no matter how many people we photograph, no matter how close to home, there are always new places to find.  Recently, we were introduced to Sachem Rock Farm in Bridgewater, a beautiful historic space with rolling greens, old wooden fences, and beautiful trees.  On top of having a beautiful background to work with, we were blessed with the amazing high school sweethearts, Sara & Jeff.  I’ve known Sara for quite a few years now, since she was one of the first people to volunteer as a model for me years ago, before I started photographing weddings.  Naturally, when she and Jeff met with us and decided we were the perfect fit for their Plimoth Plantation rustic wedding, we were totally doing the happy dance.  We met them down at the farm, and Jeff was kind enough to drive a borrowed 1927 Ford Model T all the way down for their shoot, and I’m now considering requiring an antique car for all engagement sessions! (I kid, but seriously, this thing is awesome.)  After spending some time with these guys, and seeing how absolutely natural they are in front of the camera (despite Sara’s claims otherwise!), we are beyond excited for their wedding next September!

Jeff & Chris: Engaged! |A South Boston Sunrise Engagement Session

So we all love a good sunset, right?  Well last weekend, Jeff and Chris got together with Josh and I at an ungodly hour and decided to shoot their engagement session at the incredibly underrated sunrise, and we are so glad that we did.  Jeff & Chris spend a lot of their time in South Boston, where they call home, so we decided to head over to Castle Island.  This was such a wonderful morning with an amazing pair.  I’ve known Jeff for (gulp) 15 years, when we met in a massive lecture hall at UMass freshman year.  He always kept me laughing in our boring general education classes, so when he got in touch with us to say he and Chris were going to be getting married, and wanted us to photograph their day, I was jumping out of my seat!

While this pair grew up on opposite sides of the ocean from each other with Jeff in Massachusetts and Chris in Ireland, after they got to know each other, they realized their paths crossed more than they knew, with Chris’ cousins living in Jeff’s hometown!  Since then they’ve grown to be the perfect balance for each other. Both incredibly sweet, with Jeff being the cook and Chris handling the bar, they enjoy everything in life.  We had such a wonderful time at their session and enjoying a leisurely Sunday morning breakfast in their beautiful roof deck garden.  Here are some of our favorites from their session!
